Advice for suffragettes from Luddites

Hi suffragettes, this is a member of Luddites. We luddites had fought over the government to make the factories stop using machines. We protested for about a year. Luddites were a group of people who were working in the industry factories and who had their own industry shop. As factory started to use machines, the workers had to lose their job and as the price of machine made clothes is low and it’s better quality, the wage of people who had their own shop also got lower. Factory working was the only way the factory workers earned money and it was the only thing that they could do to live but government made them kick out of the factories. We were strongly resisting for that. We sneaked into the factories at night and broke the machines. Government tried to stop us, so they sent the armies to protect the machines where luddites were acting. If the luddites were fourteen, there were sixty armies protecting the factory. It was totally unfair situation for luddites but, we didn’t stop. We kept attacking many factories. I can tell that we were really violence. We did it to live, we did it for own family. There were no other choices. Bur government couldn’t understand our problem and they didn’t try to listen to us. They were also hard on us. They used great number of army to stop us and during the violence protest; we lost many men on our side. It was a tragic.
So as a result of my experience, I don’t think use of violence against the government is a good idea to get what you suffragettes wants from the government. They are not easy and you should always remember they have bigger army than you guys have and they are stronger than you guys. They are not easy to go through. Be careful if you don’t want to lose your very good companion. I think less patience is why luddites lose against the government. I hope suffragettes get the right to vote at the end of your hard conflict.

Advice for suffragettes from India rebellion

Hello Suffragettes, this is a member of Sepoys from India. Sepoys were the East India Company’s private armies. There were large number of Sepoys and most of the Sepoys were Hindu and Muslim. As the rule of religion, the Hindu Sepoys can’t to eat beef and the Muslims can’t eat pork. It was prohibited to us but British tried to abolish our traditions and religion. One of the events was in 1857, British issued a new rifle. The problem was that to ease its passage down the gun barrel, each cartridge was heavily greased with beef or pork fat. This horrified the Hindu and Muslim Sepoys and we believed that British would violate our religion. And that made Sepoys start uprising. Angry Sepoys were really violent. We killed so many British men, Women, and Children. We killed hundreds of them by shooting and swordsmen hacked them. Out violent action enraged the British soldiers and they also became very violent. The British army forced us to lick the blood-covered floors and walls of the house where the women and children had been slaughtered. It was disgusting. I think it wasn’t a simple uprising. It was a terrible war. I don’t know how many people got killed by this. For about a year, All Indian had to live in a terror. In 1858, Sepoys lost the war because they killed one of the leaders of Sepoys’, and the other leader ran away. There were no leaders to lead Sepoys so we lost. But after the war, British started to respect us and the most importantly, they abolish the East India Company.
Even though they respect us and there is no more East Company, we are still British colony, and the damage which India got by this uprising is unbelievably huge. Sepoys got huge number of people but we still lost. Governments are smart and they have more power. Use of violence against government is not a good idea to achieve your goal. I hope you don’t make poor victims during your fighting.

Suffragettes help the government!

Hi Suffragettes, this is Emmeline Pankhurst, the leader of Suffragettes. Britain and Europe has plunge into World War One in August 1914. I know governments are disagreeing with our right to vote and doing Cat and mouse act which makes us extremely angry, but we are still living in one country and our country is in a great danger called World War I. Suffragettes and government should work together and protect Britain. Britain is our home. National reconciliation is the only way that we Britain can survive from this horrible War. World War I will be a long war I guess. We can, and we will continue our protest after the war and get the right to vote after the war. If you suffragettes really want to get the right to vote, this is the time to help the government. Please don’t feel bad about it. All men should go to the war and fight. There will be a serious shortage of able-bodied men, and we should take over many of the traditional male roles. In my opinion this is a good opportunity to show the government that the women are also capable of doing those men’s jobs. When governments see the truth that women can also do the same thing as men, they will consider we can get the right to vote too.

So please Suffragettes, stop all the campaign of violence and support in every way the government and its war effort.

Hunger strike and Cat and mouse act

Many Suffragettes were arrested for causing violence and vandalized many places. We went to prison happily because we thought this is one of processes for achieve our goal. And we decided to go to the hunger strike and refused to eat in the prison. We thought it was a perfect plan because if we go to the hunger strike and few women dies, people will blame the government and they will be ashamed. Government thought they can’t let the suffragettes die, so they used the method which is forcing women in the prison to eat. But that method was usually used for the mentally sick people and our companion in the prison were mostly educated women. As a result it caused a public outcry. Until then, we thought this game is our victory, but the government of came up with the Cat and Mouse Act on 1913. The Cat and Mouse Act is the government let the women to have a hunger strike and when women get weaker and weaker they let women free. And when suffragettes are out of the prison they can’t work with us for a time until they get their strength back and even when suffragettes dies out of the prison it’s not the government’s fault. The governments are expecting us to get really weak so we give up our protest but we are not going to until we get the right to vote!

Suffragettes.

Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughters Christabel and Sylvia

In 1903 the Women's Social and Political Union was founded by Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughters Christabel and Sylvia because the Parliaments said women can’t simply understand how the laws work and therefore should not take part in the electoral process and that let many women angry and I was one of them. The National Union of Women’s suffrage and Millicent Fawcett’s peaceful way of getting right to vote was too slow.
Two women who are Christabel Pankhurst and Annie Kenney once interrupted a political meeting in Manchester in 1905. They shouted ‘right to vote’ in front of two politicians. They were arrested for causing an obstruction and a technical assault on a police officer but all women were affected on their brave movement.

We plan to burn down churches because they are disagreeing with our aim and we will attack politicians when they are heading to their work place. We can’t get the right to vote if we are not brave enough! We decided to call ourselves Suffragettes. We are not prepared to wait, but we are prepared to use violence to get what we want!

We have to push the government and let more people know why we are doing this movement and what is the right we want. The government won't listen to us if we keep quiet and do no harm to their authority. We have to ATTACT them!!

The National Union of Women’s suffrage and Millicent Fawcett. The First step for our Aim.

The National Union of Women's Suffrage is found in 1897 by Millicent Fawcett. It’s for women to get the right to vote. The leader of the National Union of Women’s suffrage, Millicent Fawcett believes that we can get the right to vote without any violence and she thinks the most important things to get the right is persuade men and make them believe in us that we can also do the same thing as men does. Millicent Fawcett’s argues reasonably and peacefully against the unfair laws and rights. Her arguments are if all women had to obey the laws which parliament made, then we, women should also take the part of making those laws and be fairer and we are paying same amount of taxes as men, then we should have same rights as men.

Millicent Fawcett is right!

Women’s value in the society is surely lower than the men nowadays. the
Discrimination in our society is not about money. Men who is really poor who has to do small pay job and who doesn’t even have a food to eat can vote because they are a man. But women who are rich enough to have a mansion and living a tremendous life can’t vote. They don’t have a right to vote because they are women. We are women so we can’t vote. But we are paying same tax as men, and we work hard as men. But however in our society, men and women are different.
We have to obey the same law as men have to. Laws have to be fair to everyone who has to obey it.

What we want to get is not even suggested in the history yet. This is a new try. We are trying to make the new law and new society which is fairer. There is no way avoiding that women is simply lower valuable than the men, but many people think that it is. This is not right at all. We have to fix those wrong thoughts and give them a new right thought for our future. For that, we have let them know that women are also smart and can do well or even better than the men.
